About Cairns Young Voices

Cairns Young Voices brings together students from all over Cairns to experience the joy of singing. We love what we do, which is reflected in the many people we engage with — children, parents, teachers, city officials, theatre managers, and promotors. Join us, in keeping the music alive, while developing life skills in our children and teens. Joanne Wright began teaching theory and providing Kodaly instruction in 1994 - shortly after having her first baby.

Join us, in keeping the music alive, while developing life skills in our children and teens. Joanne Wright began teaching theory and providing Kodaly instruction in 1994 - shortly after having her first baby. Assisting with theory skills for her mother’s piano students, Joanne continued teaching as the classes grew year by year. In 2005, Joanne registered "Cairns Young Voices" and moved to larger premises. Wanting to keep the lessons to one afternoon a week, she employed two other teachers to help run classes concurrently.
