About Kodokan Cummings Karate Dojo
Founded in 2009 by Kancho Reece Cummings (5th Dan Karatedo, 1st Dan Kobud0), the Kodokan Cummings Karate Dojo is Canberra’s premier fully-dedicated dojo located in Mitchell (Gungahlin) committed to the practice and preservation of traditional Okinawan Karatedo and Kobudo and has been operating as a non-profit organisation since our establishment.
We offer classes for kids and families, teens and adults and teach one of the oldest styles of Okinawan Karatedo (Matsubayashiryu) and Kobudo (Yamaneryu).
We focus on teaching traditional martial arts to the modern world.
This means that while we offer group training, we recognise that each student is on an individual journey.

Our Dojo is a part of the Centre for Martial Arts and Human Development Incorporated, a registered not-for-profit association.
Our Dojo is not a commercial school, and while we encourage everyone to enquire about joining and starting martial arts, we only accept those who will be committed to their training as students, and in return receive the same commitment from our instructors.
All students are required to commit to regular training twice per week.
With eight professional black belt instructors and more than 10 active black belts in total, supported by regular visiting instructors, we are committed to providing the highest level of quality instruction.
Our Head Instructor is a qualified teacher/trainer, and our instructors undergo internal and external training and certification.
